I was inspired by Woven Shibori by Catherine Ellis (Interweave Press, October 1, 2005, ISBN-13: 978-1931499675)  See also http://www.ellistextiles.com/woven_shibori/

She wrote that polyester could be steamed into pleats and I gave it a try with some painted 10/2 cotton warp and polyester weft.  The pleats (red threads in the draft) were created with fishing line taken from my son's fishing reel (he was not home).  Here are the results and one of the drafts.

Completed January 2, 2015: Scarf using hand-knitting leftovers from a "friend of a friend."  I used Fibonacci numbers to create the stripes (see http://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/fibonacci-sequence.html and Marg Coe's http://www.e-weaving.com/Fibonacci.html).  I cut out about 8" of weaving twice and eventually rejected an elaborate 12-shaft twill + 4-shaft basket weave salvages draft.  Plain weave with a very thin rayon weft worked best.
